Recreation Department to initiate recycling during events, and as a pilot program at a selected <br />park. <br />In addition to telephone, e-mail, mail or on -site assistance, we will continue our recognition <br />program to highlight outstanding business recycling programs throughout Tukwila "Tukwila <br />Green Works" and "Tukwila Business Recycler of the Year We will also provide businesses <br />with informational materials promoting non residential recycling, including stickers for <br />containers. If other opportunities arise, we will adjust the work plan for greatest effectiveness. <br />Timely, scheduled telephone follow -up will be provided for all businesses reached for technical <br />assistance either by the staff project manager or the consultant. <br />We will assist businesses with recycling, waste prevention and purchasing of recycled content <br />goods, and, when possible, also furnish information about conserving other resources used in typical <br />business activities. By contacting companies directly with individualized information and by <br />following up with them, we hope to prepare and motivate businesses to improve their solid waste <br />behaviors. <br />We will coordinate our technical assistance activities with the Allied Waste and other area <br />recyclers, as well as with King County's Business Recycling Program by working with any <br />Tukwila business that has been referred by the County. As appropriate, we will make most <br />efficient use of resources by participating in the County's industry- or topic- specific campaigns. <br />Promotion/Education <br />We plan to promote non residential recycling and waste prevention by through a variety of <br />activities, including: <br />Updating recycling information on Tukwila's website <br />Property manager outreach events <br />Informational materials promoting non residential recycling, including an e- newsletter, case <br />studies, informational stickers, handout for use with janitorial companies <br />"Tukwila Green Works" program to recognize outstanding business performance. <br />"Tukwila Business Recycler of the Year" award to stimulate interest in recycling <br />Purchase, distribute additional recycled content promotional materials (i.e. pens, pencils) <br />Update and distribute "Tukwila Business Recycling Guide" in 2010 and 2011 <br />Purchase and distribute desk side containers to encourage businesses to begin or upgrade <br />recycling efforts <br />Promotional and educational activities may also include general information on resource <br />conservation. We anticipate that promoting resource conservation along with recycling /waste <br />prevention and "buy recycled" messages will enable more businesses to benefit from our <br />technical assistance services. <br />We will coordinate our promotion/education activities with the County as appropriate, including: <br />use the County's program materials, and <br />participate County promotional activities /advertising, including "Take it Back" network. <br />2) Impact Objectives: <br />At least two editions "Tukwila Business Recycler" distributed to 2,000 Tukwila companies <br />via business license renewal mailings to give information about recycling resources and <br />generate requests for technical assistance. <br />RF Page 5 of 8 12/15/2009 <br />P: \SWPublic \KSC_Public\RES \WRR Grant Info\2010- 2011 \Scopes \tukwscope.doc <br />
