Office of the Mayor <br />City of Tukwila, Washington <br />PROCLAMATION <br />WHEREAS, the City of Tukwila is committed to creating a highly skilled <br />workforce that is critical to growing and sustaining a competitive advantage; <br />WHEREAS, the City recognizes that having a knowledgeable, skilled <br />workforce improves the performance of an organization; <br />WHEREAS, learning develops individual and organizational knowledge and <br />expertise; <br />WHEREAS, the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD), the <br />world's largest association dedicated to the training and development field, has declared <br />December 1-5, 2014, as "Employee Learning Week" and designated this time for <br />organizations to recognize the value of employee learning; and <br />WHEREAS, the ASTD Puget Sound chapter, whose members are workplace <br />learning and performance professionals and the City of Tukwila have demonstrated <br />their commitment to developing the skills of employees and the workforce; <br />NOW THEREFORE, I, Jim Haggerton, Mayor of the City of Tukwila, do <br />hereby proclaim December 1- 5, 2014 as: <br />Employee Learning Week <br />in the City of Tukwila and strongly encourage all employers in Tukwila to join me in <br />supporting continuing education for employees. <br />Presented at the City Council meeting this 1st day of December, 2014. <br />• <br />• rct <br />ii <br />e <br />
