Background Report on TIB <br />The intent of the attached Background Report is to provide a common understanding of the current <br />conditions and key issues within the TIB corridor. The Report outlines the regional goals and policies <br />that provide the context for the City's planning effort, discusses the vision for the TIB corridor, and <br />explains what has been done over the last 15 years that Tukwila has been responsible for the area. <br />Please take the opportunity to read the Background Report prior to January 8th so that we can have a <br />productive discussion at the first work session. <br />Future Steps <br />• After the two work sessions, Staff drafts a recommended update to the TIB goals and policies in the <br />Transportation Corridors Element <br />• Staff convenes a Community Open House on the draft Element <br />• Planning Commission reviews the draft Element, holds a public hearing, and forwards their <br />recommended draft Element to the City Council <br />• City Council reviews the PC- recommended draft Element, holds a public hearing, potentially <br />develops revisions, and adopts a final version <br />Page 2 of 2 <br />12/18/2014 <br />
