PC Public Hearing Minutes <br />June 26, 2014 <br />Page 4 - Fifteen lines down from the top, after "involved talked with" insert the following language, "the <br />City's diverse residents via culturally and language - specific Community Connectors who helped <br />residents" <br />Page 4 - The Planning Commission was in consensus to not include the last sentence under the Cultural <br />Diversity section, recommended by Ms. Villegas as follows- change "efforts" to "process" and <br />add: ", such as the work done with Forterra and Global to Local to establish `Community <br />Connectors. — <br />Page 4 - insert space 4d' sentence down, between "year" and Strategic" <br />Page 5 - The paragraph beginning with "Seeking to expand access to healthy food..." has been revised to <br />read, <br />"The City seeks to expand access to healthy food and provide job training opportunities. The <br />City will continue to provide use of the Tukwila Community Center's facilities by programs that <br />empower community members by equipping them with hands -on vocational training to gain <br />their footing in the food industry. In the process, the participants, such as refugees and <br />immigrants, become integrated into local communities and economies. <br />Page 5 - just before the section labeled "Commercial Development and Urban Design" in the last line add <br />a space between "identifiable" and "boundary" <br />Page 7 — Under "Community Image" section, 4d' sentence correct the spelling of "about." <br />Goal 1.1 <br />Page 8 - Policy, 1.1.1, revised language follows; <br />Encourage the creation of locations and facilities where residents of all ages and cultures can <br />gather for activities and events, such as public markets, parades and festivals that are <br />representative of the City's diverse population. <br />Policy 1.1.2, revised language follows; <br />Strengthen the image and character of Tukwila's distinct areas and neighborhoods. <br />Policy 1.1.5, delete <br />Page 9 -Under Implementation Strategies 2nd from last bullet revised to read, <br />Support residential neighborhood identity where appropriate. <br />Goal 1.2 <br />Policy 1.2.4, A new policy - "Actively promote community engagement of the City's diverse population <br />via non - traditional methods such as the Community Connector Program ". <br />Motion: Commissioner Alford Moved to continue the meeting to 10:00 PM. Commissioner Hansen <br />seconded and all were in favor. <br />Goal 1.3 <br />Under Implementation Strategies, next to last bullet revised language follows; <br />Expand the linguistic and cultural competencies of the City Council, staff, Commissions and other city <br />representative groups through recruitment, training and hiring. <br />Under Healthy Living - Implementation Strategieslst bullet, 1st sentence, replace the word "establishing" <br />with "participating in" <br />Page 4 of 5 <br />
