City Of Tukwila <br />Police Department <br />An Accredited Agency <br />COPCAB Minutes <br />February 12, 2015 <br />6:30pm- 8:00pm <br />Present: Chief Villa, Chris Partman, Kim Karns, Laurie Clark, J <br />• Minutes from 12/11/14 and 1/8/15 meetings tabled due <br />• Chief's Update <br />• Staffing — At 75 commissioned officers with 4 pipeline position, <br />• Next meeting the Chief will present the TPD goals. <br />• One goal is to reduce property crime in residential areas <br />• Reduce violent crime on TIB <br />• Work with Central Business District to ensure adequate i <br />• The department has had meetings to put together an action sheet <br />goals. This will not be just an emphasis, but rather a long -term <br />• We are developing real world actions to fulfill these goals. The Chief envisions these strategies still being in use <br />in 10 years. <br />• In cousideraxion of the current climate of mistrust of the police, especially in communities of color. <br />Chief Villa,is part of a group, of Chiefs who are putting together a toolbox for police departments to <br />build trust with communities. <br />o He has been meeting with,representatives of different communities and so far the feedback has <br />been pretty neutral about TPD from these meetings. <br />• Working on presentations for members of different communities to work with PD <br />& Possible presentations at apartments <br />o Work with the School District family liaison staff a possibility <br />• COPCAB Awards/Annual Report to the City Council. Consensus was to award all nominees. <br />• For officers, Zach Anderson was mentioned for his great work in recruiting and other <br />community efforts. <br />• Also mentioned was the new Westfield manager, Becky Smith, who was instrumental in <br />getting the mall office opened.
