WHEREAS, the City of Tukwila has a long tradition of volunteerism <br />that has continuously enhanced the quality of life within the community; and <br />WHEREAS, the entire community can inspire, equip and mobilize people <br />to take action that changes the world; and <br />WHEREAS, local community service opportunities are available through <br />the City of Tukwila, the faith community, public and private schools, <br />businesses, civic organizations and community groups; and <br />WHEREAS, the giving of oneself in service to another empowers the <br />giver and the recipient; and <br />WHEREAS, experience teaches us that government by itself cannot <br />solve all of our nation's social problems; and <br />WHEREAS, during 2014 volunteers donated more than 6,600 hours to <br />City sponsored projects; and <br />WHEREAS, by volunteering and recognizing those who serve, we can <br />come together to make a difference <br />WHEREAS, volunteers are vital to our future as The City of Opportunity <br />and the Community of Choice; <br />NOW THEREFORE, I, Jim Haggerton, Mayor of the City of Tukwila, do <br />hereby proclaim April 12-18, 2015: <br />National Volunteer Week <br />in the City of Tukwila and encourage all citizens to recognize the outstanding <br />volunteer spirit that exists in our community. <br />Signed this sixth day of April, 2015. <br />---- Jim- - H6-ieWrton, Mayor <br />
