This is the first step in the process to update
the TIB Element of the Comprehensive Plan.
Council President Kruller and Mayor Haggerton welcomed the group. Councilmembers and Planning
Commissioners introduced themselves and stated what they like best about the TIB neighborhood. Staff
reviewed the agenda, rules of engagement, and the meeting goals, described as 1) Kick off the TIB
Element of the Comp Plan and 2) Revisit, discuss and adjust the vision for the area. Following a staff
overview of the accomplishments, changes, and planning history of the area, Councilmembers,
Commissioners, staff and consultants broke up into three small groups to discuss the following questions:
What is your long -term vision for the TIB neighborhood?
What are the main barriers to achieving the desired positive change for TIB?
What are your near -term hopes for TIB?
The large group reconvened and a spokesperson for each group reported out. The VIA consultants shared
observations and staff noted that the next step will be a second joint meeting with the Planning Commission
in February or March to discuss realities and strategies.
Summary by LH
