City Of Tukwila <br />• City Council <br />Work Session: Joint Tukwila City Council and Planning Commission Meeting <br />Tukwila International Boulevard Element of Comprehensive Plan <br />Location: Showalter Middle School Commons <br />Date: February 25, 2015 <br />Start: 5:35 p.m. <br />End: 8:35 p.m. <br />PRESENT <br />Elected Officials: <br />Jim Haggerton, Mayor; Kate Kruller, Council President; Joe Duffie, Dennis Robertson, Allan Ekberg, Verna <br />Seal, Kathy Hougardy, De'Sean Quinn <br />Planning Commissioners: <br />Louise Strander, Mike Hanson, Brooke Alford, Thomas McLeod, Sharon Mann, Miguel Maestas, <br />Nhan Nguyen <br />Staff: <br />David Cline, Bob Giberson, Jaimie Reavis, Laura Benjamin, Jack Pace, Moira Bradshaw, Rebecca Fox, <br />Nora Gierloff, Derek Speck, Lynn Miranda, Laurel Humphrey <br />Consultants: <br />Matt Roewe, Dan Bertolet and Katie Idziorek, VIA Architecture; Matt Hoffman, Heartland LLC; Maria <br />Royer, Real Retail <br />The purpose of this Council Work Session was to meet jointly with the Planning Commission to hear <br />presentations on 1) a vision for the TIB District based upon comments provided at the January 8, 2015 <br />joint work session, 2) background on the urban design issues and market forecasts for the area, and 3) <br />recommended goals and policies. <br />Consultants from VIA Architecture, Heartland LLC, and Real Retail presented to Councilmembers and <br />Planning Commissioners a vision, market and retail strategies, urban form strategies, and near -term and <br />long -range opportunities. The proposed vision is summarized as "The TIB area is a safe and walkable <br />destination with an authentic main street character that is connected to other destinations." <br />Councilmembers and Commissioners were asked if anything significant was missed in the presentation, <br />and no new requests were made.
