WHEREAS, the Public Works services provided in our community are <br />an integral part of the daily lives of our citizens; and <br />WHEREAS, the efficient and effective provision of these services greatly <br />enhances the health, safety, and welfare of our community; and <br />I <br />WHEREAS, quality and effectiveness in the design and <br />construction of public facilities and in the provision of public services is vitally <br />dependent on the knowledge, skills, and dedication of the Public Works staff <br />and officials in the City of Tukwila; and <br />WHEREAS, the support of the community and the understanding of the <br />importance of the work performed by Public Works staff significantly influences <br />their ability to respond to the needs of the citizens; and <br />WHEREAS, 2015 marks the 55th annual National Public Works Week, <br />sponsored by the American Public Works Association; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I, Jim Haggerton, Mayor of the City of Tukwila, <br />do hereby proclaim May 17 through May 23, 2015, with this year's theme <br />"Public Works: Community Begins Here" as: <br />National Public Works Week <br />in the City of Tukwila, and I invite all citizens and civic organizations to <br />acquaint themselves with the challenges confronted in the provision of <br />Public Works services in our community and to recognize the daily <br />contributions our Public Works Department staff make to our health, <br />safety and quality of life. <br />Signed this 18th day of May, 2015. <br />rq- — <br />Jim Hag #dn, Mayor <br />
