This will not be just an emphasis, but rather a long -term strategy.
• We are developing real world actions to fulfill these goals. Such as:
• Patrol officers spending "down time" in residential neighborhoods
• Bike officers riding in the residential areas.
• Additional communication methods
• Surveying the community
• This will be continued for the foreseeable future. The Chief envisions these strategies still being in use
in 10 years.
• In consideration of the current climate of mistrust of the police, especially in communities of color.
Chief Villa is part of a group of Chiefs who are putting together a toolbox for police departments to
build trust with communities.
o He has been meeting with representatives of different communities and so far the feedback has
been pretty neutral about TPD from these meetings.
• Working on presentations for members of different communities to work with PD
• Possible presentations at apartments
• Work with the School District family liaison staff a possibility
• COPCAB Awards /Annual Report to the City Council.
