City of Tukwila Allan Ekberg, Mayor <br />Police Department - Mike Villa, Chief <br />October 13, 2016 <br />6:30pm- 8:00pm <br />Members Present: Jerry Thornton, Jun Castillo, Kim Karns, John Lindsay <br />Staff Present: Deputy Chief Bruce Linton, Chris Partman <br />Guest: Fire Chief Wittwer <br />• Minutes for 9/8/16 meeting approved <br />• Introductions <br />• Comments from Fire Chief Wittwer <br />• Has been here almost a month, very impressed with what he has seen <br />• Worked for City of N Las Vegas for 29 years, worked up through the ranks <br />• His wife is up here with him and he has 6 adult children <br />• Provided facts and information regarding the Public Safety Plan and referred to <br />the City of Tukwila website <br />• Chief's update <br />• Yesterday the entire command staff, Sgts. and up, got together at the <br />Doubletree. <br />• looked at goals for 2017 in light of the PD Strategic Plan and City of <br />Tukwila priorities <br />• Looked at budget priorities <br />• Studied crime stats <br />• Came up with a draft plan for the Chiefs to review before we go into <br />2017 <br />• Will share final plan with this group once approved <br />• Discussion of how COPCAB can assist TPD in the implementation of Pillar 4 in the <br />President's Report on 21" Century Policing <br />• Discussion on what TPD is doing now, refer to attached spreadsheet <br />• Getting ready to launch social media sites for PD only, Facebook, Twitter and <br />in the future, U -tube. <br />• Going to start doing "wellness checkups" for officers (voluntary) with a <br />psychologist. <br />Tukwila City Hall • 6200 Southcenter Boulevard • Tukwila, WA 98188 • 206 -433 -1800 • Website: TukwilaWA.gov <br />
