City of Tukwila <br /> City Council Finance Committee <br /> FINANCE COMMITTEE <br /> Meeting Minutes <br /> January 18, 2017-5:30 p.m. -Hazelnut Conference Room, City Hall <br /> Councilmembers: Verna Seal, Chair; Kathy Hougardy,Thomas McLeod <br /> Staff: David Cline, Peggy McCarthy, Laurel Humphrey <br /> CALL TO ORDER: Chair Seal called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. <br /> I. PRESENTATIONS <br /> II. BUSINESSAGENDA <br /> A. 2017 Committee Work Plan <br /> The Committee reviewed and discussed a draft work plan for the year ahead. The <br /> Compensation Policy review is expected to be time consuming and span multiple meetings. <br /> Pursuant to City of Tukwila Financial Policy GF-5, the Finance Department will be reporting <br /> monthly on departmental financial results, but existing quarterly financial reporting will <br /> continue. The Committee will be asked for input into the format of the Technology&Innovation <br /> Services Department quarterly reporting requested by Council during the budget process. <br /> Councilmember McLeod asked that the 2019-2020 Budget process discussion include <br /> evaluation of participatory and incentive budgeting philosophies. He also requested that the <br /> Committee make time to discuss financing of human services for the next biennium. <br /> The Committee recommended extending the application deadline for appointments to the <br /> Public Safety Financial Oversight Committee. Chair Seal will request Council consensus to <br /> extend it through February 28,2017. <br /> III.
