City of Tukwila Allan Ekberg, Mayor <br />Police Department - Mike Villa, Chief <br />November 10, 2016 <br />6:30pm- 8:OOpm <br />Members Present: Jerry Thornton, Jan Bolerjack, Kim Karns, John Lindsay, Zak Idan <br />Staff Present: Deputy Chief Rick Mitchell, Chris Partman <br />Guest: none <br />• Minutes for 10/13/16 meeting approved <br />• Chief's update <br />Facilities Bond is passing so far with just over the required 60% of the vote <br />• Deputy Chief Linton has overseen the bond issue for the Police <br />Department and has been visiting other departments with new <br />facilities for input. <br />Officer staffing level is at 77, we are down by 2 officers plus 4 authorized <br />pipeline employees. <br />• Currently <br />• One officer on limited duty <br />• One in the Academy <br />• One officer on FTO <br />• Non - officer staffing is at 18 people, 100% <br />• Tukwila Police Department now has Facebook and Twitter Accounts <br />• Twitter will be for breaking news /events <br />• Facebook will be for longer term - information <br />• City of Tukwila staff, including police, fire and zoning has a meeting with the <br />Cascade Behavioral Hospital on Military Road about the heavy use of police <br />and fire services and potential zoning /land use issues. <br />• November training was low -light firearms <br />• Bicycle Team continues to work on hot spots and issues needing proactive <br />enforcement <br />• This includes the light rail station and parking issues in the <br />surrounding neighborhoods. <br />• Tukwila Police has a new K9 team coming. Officer Sturgill and his partner, <br />Apollo are training in narcotics detection in order to assist the Tukwila Anti - <br />Crime Team and also detect narcotics in package distribution hubs such as the <br />US Post Office and UPS. <br />• Last week Chief Villa attended the IACP (International Association of Chiefs <br />of Police) conference in San Diego. <br />Tukwila City Hall • 6200 Southcenter Boulevard • Tukwila, WA 98188 • 206 -433 -1800 • Website: TukwilaWA.gov <br />
