City of Tukwila <br />Allan Ekberg, Mayor <br />TO: Finance Committee <br />FROM: TIS Department <br />BY: Joseph Todd Technology and Innovation Services Director <br />CC: Mayor Ekberg <br />DATE: 02/15/2017 <br />SUBJECT: Approve of Dell Computer Lease Contract <br />ISSUE <br />It was determined in 2016 that to cost effectively refresh the cities aging desktop computing <br />systems in a timely manner, the city would need to enter a computing lease agreement with a <br />three year refresh cycle. <br />BACKGROUND <br />In 2016 along with other Department stake holders the Technology and innovations services <br />department developed a strategy that would increase departmental productivity and efficiency. <br />The productivity and efficiency gains would be realized through new software capabilities and <br />business process improvement. As we move towards those goals it's clear that our current end <br />user computing systems cannot handle the new modern software capabilities. Therefore, in <br />August of 2016 we devised a plan with Dell Computer to refresh our systems on a 3-year rolling. <br />This schedule to ensure that we can meet up the demands of modern desktop and cloud <br />software and ensure that we don't fall behind with desktop computing systems technology. <br />DISCUSSION <br />Approve the Dell leasing contract to move forward for consent to regular council meeting <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT <br />The Financial impact is $450,000 paid in $150,000 increments over the course of the next 3 <br />years. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />The council is being asked to approve the contract to move forward to the March 6th regular <br />meeting for consent and approval for the Mayor to sign the 3-year Dell Lease contract. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />Dell Lease Contract <br />
