City of Tukwila <br />Allan Ekberg, Mayor <br />TO: Finance Committee <br />FROM: David Cline, City Administrator <br />CC: Mayor Allan Ekberg <br />DATE: March 30, 2017 <br />SUBJECT: 2017-2018 Work Plan Review and First Quarter Accomplishments <br />ISSUE <br />Each biennial budget, the City adopts a Work Plan based on the City's Adopted Strategic Pkan. <br />This year, the City is using G new system t0 provide more information for inienl8| and 8xi8[DG| <br />UG8rS. The City is providing a summary of the First Quarter accomplishments and overall work <br />plan. Staff is looking for Council feedback on making this a more effective communication tool. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Strategic Plan was adopted in December 2012 and has provided the framework for each <br />year's priorities and work plan items. The Strategic Plan Goals are intended tObe for 85-10 <br />ye8rtim8frGnl8. The Biennial Work Plan Priorities, are based On these goals and are for two <br />years. These in turn are used tO create the annual Council Committee work plans and each <br />department work plans. For the 2017-2018 Budget the Goals and Priorities are <br />Strategic Plan Goals <br />2017-2018 Priorities <br />1. A community of inviting neighborhoods <br />1. Cultivate safe, attractive and welcoming <br />and vibrant business districts <br />neighborhoods <br />2. Promote dynamic urban environments <br />2. A solid foundation for all Tukwila residents <br />3. Leverage effective partnerships and <br />collaboration <br />4. Encourage healthy, safe and affordable <br />housing <br />3. A diverse and regional competitive <br />5. Maximize Tukwila's significant economic <br />economy <br />strength and potential <br />4. A high performing and effective <br />6. Ensure organizational effectiveness and <br />organization <br />responsible financial stewardship <br />5. A positive community identity and image <br />7.
