PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE <br />Citv Council Public Safetv Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />April 3, 2017 - 5:30 p.m. - Hazelnut Conference Room, City Hall <br />Councilmembers: Thomas McLeod, Chair; Joe Duffie, De'Sean Quinn <br />Staff: David Cline, Bob Giberson, Jay Wittwer, Laurel Humphrey <br />Guests: Justine Kim and Carrie Holmes, Shiels Obletz Johnson <br />CALL TO ORDER: Committee Chair McLeod called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. <br />I. ANNOUNCEMENT <br />II. BUSINESSAGENDA <br />A. Public Safety Plan Quality Assurance /Quality Control <br />The Committee reviewed draft qualifications and scope of work for an independent quality <br />assurance /quality control consultant to provide advice to the City Council regarding the Public <br />Safety Plan. Councilmembers expressed support for the draft but requested that the section <br />on reporting include a provision for quarterly reports "or as otherwise directed." Staff will <br />return to Committee with a draft Request for Qualifications and more information about the <br />cost based upon this feedback. RETURN TO COMMITTEE. <br />B. Contract: Fire Station Architectural and Engineering Services <br />Staff is seeking Council approval of a contract with Weinstein A +U in an amount not to exceed <br />$2,089,717.00 for fire station architect and engineering services as part of the Public Safety <br />Plan. This contract includes architectural /engineering services, programming services, site <br />selection process assistance, fire station specialty consulting, and geotechnical engineering <br />services. It is assumed that using one firm for all three stations will yield lower costs and <br />streamlined processes. Weinstein A +U was selected from an original eleven submissions on the <br />strength of its experience, design strength and reputation. TCA was another high scoring <br />candidate and has been tapped to work with Weinstein A +U as a subcontractor on the projects. <br />Committee members asked clarifying questions. The fire station location report is scheduled to <br />be completed in the next few weeks. The City Attorney will provide information to Council <br />regarding legal considerations around the planned location for Station 51. UNANIMOUS <br />APPROVAL. FORWARD TO APRIL 10, 2017 COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE. <br />
