City of Tukwila <br />Allan Ekberg, Mayor <br />A as <br />A <br />Ilk U-411-1 IT, YNHOM I <br />TO: —Finance Committee <br />FROM: Jack Pace, Department of Community Developmen <br />t <br />BY- Rose Warren, Lead Transportation and Outreach Co rdinator <br />IM <br />Rol ilciF��1111 11111� 1!111 1�111pIT11wrlufm <br />ISS1E <br />Shou Id Tukwi Ws TD M Team apply f or W SDOT's N ew Transportation G rant Focused on Trip <br />Reduction to further the implementation of the TDM strategies and achievement of Regional <br />Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement Program deliverables. <br />BACKGROUND <br />WSDOT is seeking to award up to 250,000 for creative TDM projects throughout the state, <br />There is a preference for projects that expand public-private partnership trip reduction <br />incentives, make measurable reductions in off-peak, weekend and non -work vehicle trips on tha <br />Interstate -90, 1-5, and/or 1-405 corridors, and test potential improvements to the state's <br />Commute Trip Reduction (CTR) program, <br />• Deadline to apply: Tuesday, August 15, 2017 <br />• Applicants notified about grant awards by October 2, 2017 <br />• Grant period October 2, 2017 — October 1, 2018 <br />DISC11ISSIren <br />The current state CTR program focuses on peak commute hours and worksites of employers <br />with 100+ employees. This pilot grant program provides an opportunity to demonstrate the <br />-ftectiveness of techniques that increase the use of transit, walking, biking, vanpool, carpool, <br />telework and more beyond peak commute hours, at worksites with fewer employees and/or <br />-flaces where people are traveling for reasons other than their commute. Grant requires a 10% <br />match which will be provided by King County Metro (5%) and the Port of Seattle <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT <br />No impact to the general fund. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Approve staff to apply for the grant and if the City is awarded a grant, staff would bring the grant <br />back to the Committee for approval. <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />No attachments <br />
