In that area, approximately 400 new households and <br />13,000 new jobs are expected to be added by 2030. Other major growth areas <br />include: <br />Southcenter — 1,400 new households and 4,200 new jobs <br />• North West Valley Highway Corridor — 1,400 new households and 300 new <br />jobs <br />• Boeing Field Area — 1,800 new jobs" <br />This additional growth and development will impact the delivery of fire and emergency <br />medical services, especially in Tukwila South, with increased requests for 911 services <br />and delays in response times due to increased traffic. A list and description of additional <br />private development projects can be found in Appendix II. <br />Fire Department Background Information <br />Tukwila Fire Department protects an area of 9.8 square miles, a resident population of <br />19,765 from four strategically located fire stations with a total of 67 Full -Time Equivalent <br />(FTE) positions for career uniformed personnel and 5 FTE civilian staff members. Daily <br />minimum emergency response staffing is 14 firefighters. Emergency response vehicles <br />on -shift consist of three Engines, one Ladder (Quint), one Battalion Commander, and <br />one Aid Car. Staffing for Engines consists of three firefighters and three or four on the <br />Ladder depending on on -duty strength after vacation and sick leave is factored. The Aid <br />Car, when in service, is staffed with two firefighter/Emergency Medical Technicians <br />(EMTs) that respond to medical emergencies. Currently the Aid Car is only in service <br />approximately sixty -percent of the time. <br />The Tukwila Fire Department provides services to 150,000 people who daily work, <br />shop, and drive through the city. Outside of Tukwila, fire department services are <br />provided to the surrounding cities covered under an automatic mutual aid agreement <br />with the Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority, Renton Regional Fire Authority as well as <br />other neighboring fire agencies. These same fire departments also provide services to <br />the City of Tukwila. As with most fire departments in North America, the majority of <br />TFD's responses are to medical emergencies.
