<br /> <br />ARTS COMMISSION <br />MINUTES <br />October 19, 2016 5:00 p.m. Tukwila Community Center <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />1.Call to Order: Chairperson Brian Kennedy called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br />2.Attendance: Commissioners - Brian Kennedy, Sheila Coppola, Steve Mullet, Cynthia Chesak, Trish <br /> <br /> Gilmore, Daniel Humkey <br /> Staff - Dave Johnson <br /> Guests – Helen Enguerra, 4Culture Representatives Cath Brunner <br /> <br />3.Approval of Agenda: Steve Mullet moved to approve the agenda. Sheila Coppola seconded the motion. <br /> <br />Motion passed unanimously. <br /> <br />4.Introduction: New Fire Chief Jay Wittwer introduced himself to the Commission and fielded questions <br /> <br />from the Commissioners. <br /> <br />5.Approval of Minutes: Cynthia Chesak moved to approve the minutes of September 14 ,2016 meeting. <br /> <br />Trisha Gilmore seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously. <br /> <br />6.Unfinished Business: <br /> <br />a.Arts Display Wall – Staff shared information and samples that are being considered for the Arts <br /> <br />Wall Display at the Community Center. Majority of the Commission agreed on the sunbaked <br />weathered wood option. Staff indicated that an order would be placed immediately. <br /> <br />7.New Business <br /> <br />a.Arts Plan Development – Commissioners shared their thoughts on the Arts Plans from other <br /> <br />communities. Cath Brunner from 4Culture also shared information and resources on developing a <br />citywide Community Arts Plan. Commissioners and 4Culture shared dialog and asked questions. <br />Cath Brunner will send some information to staff to follow up on for next steps in the process. <br /> <br />8.Committee Reports <br /> <br />A.Rainier Symphony – The Committee shared thoughts on how we can help advertise the Symphony, <br /> <br />including social media and the Tukwila Reporter) <br />B.Backyard Wildlife Art Show – Staff shared with the Committee the rules for the Renton Art Show. It <br /> <br />was also suggested that the Committee meet with staff after the first of the year to plan the 2017 show <br />in more detail. <br />C.Arts Promotion in Community – no report <br /> <br />D.Commissioner Reports – no report <br /> <br /> <br />9.Agenda for Next Meeting <br /> <br />A.Meet with Cath Brunner – this was moved up to this meeting. <br /> <br />B.Map of Tukwila <br /> <br />C.Sheila Coppola shared an idea of displaying art on the construction fence at Tukwila Village. Staff will <br /> <br />check into it. <br />10. Other <br /> <br />A.Helen Enguerra appointment to the Commission is scheduled for November 7, 2016. <br /> <br />B.Reminder about upcoming events: <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
