<br /> <br />ARTS COMMISSION <br />MINUTES <br />April 19, 2017 5:00 p.m. Tukwila Community Center <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />1.Call to Order: Chairperson Trisha Gilmore called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br />2.Attendance: Commissioners – Trisha Gilmore, Cynthia Chesak, Brian Kennedy, Sheila Coppola, Alex <br /> <br />Villella, Daniel Humkey <br /> Staff - Dave Johnson <br /> <br />3.Approval of Agenda: Cynthia Chesak moved to approve the amended agenda. Alex Villella seconded the <br /> <br />motion. Motion passed unanimously. <br /> <br />4.Approval of Minutes: Alex Villella moved to approve the minutes of March 15, 2017 meeting. Cynthia <br /> <br />Chesak seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously. <br /> <br />5.Unfinished Business: <br /> <br />a.Arts Display Wall – Staff provided follow-up discussion from the previous meeting noting that we <br /> <br />have not received a response from Illian, and that Kapetanovic provided an expanded biography. <br />Staff also indicated interest from another artist who intends to submit an application. Trisha <br />Gilmore will follow up to schedule Kapetanovic. The Commission agreed that the lead for this will <br />rotate each year in Spring and that the applications don’t need to come before the full Commission. <br />Staff will continue to receive the applications and work with the Commission lead. <br />th <br />b.Arts Plan – Staff reported that the Call for Planning Artist closed on April 11. We have rejected all <br /> <br />th <br />proposals and have re-issued the Call with a new deadline of April 24. <br />c.Art Piece at City Hall Report – Staff reported that the City risk management will be looking to do an <br /> <br />appraisal on the art work and will have more information to follow. <br /> <br />6.New Business <br /> <br />a.Art Show Schedule – Staff and Commissioners reviewed the schedule for the upcoming Art Show <br /> <br />and Backyard Wildlife Festival and signed up for time slots. <br />b.Pianos on Parade – Commissioners reviewed the information and decided to look into it more <br /> <br />during the Summer. <br />c.Tukwila Village Update – Staff reported that the Art should be installed as previously reviewed by <br /> <br />the Commission a few years back, and reminded the Commission of the Library grand opening on <br />th <br />April 29. <br />d.Arts Commission Bylaws – Staff asked for the Commissioners to review the by-laws and be <br /> <br />prepared to discuss them at the next meeting. <br />e.Website Review – Staff asked the Commissioners to review the information on the website and <br /> <br />provide any comments, corrections, updates at the earliest convenience. <br /> <br />7.Committee Reports <br /> <br />a.Rainier Symphony – no report <br /> <br />b.Backyard Wildlife Art Show – see report above <br /> <br />c.Arts Promotion in Community - Commission will be reviewing website content. Commission will be <br /> <br />working a booth at the Backyard Wildlife Festival with a sign-up list for folks that are interested in <br />Art in Tukwila and/or folks that are artists in Tukwila. <br /> <br /> <br />
