City of Tukwila <br />Public Works Department - Bob Giberson, Director <br />INFORMATIONAL MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Transportation and Infrastructure Committee <br />FROM: Robin Tischmak, Acting Public Works Director <br />BY: Mike Cusick, Senior Program Manager <br />CC: Mayor Ekberg <br />DATE: November 9, 2017 <br />SUBJECT: Martin Luther King Jr Way S Water Main <br />Project No. 90640102 <br />Design Consultant Selection and Agreement for 2017 <br />Allan Ekberg, Mayor <br />ISSUE <br />Approve Carollo Engineers for the design of the Martin Luther King (MLK) Way S Water Main <br />Project. <br />BACKGROUND <br />During the construction of Sound Transit's light rail along MLK Way S, the existing 12" D.I.P. <br />watermain was found to be heavily covered in corrosion and in need of being replaced or <br />relined. <br />ANALYSIS & FISCAL IMPACT <br />The City invited Requests for Professional Qualifications from five consulting firms that were <br />listed in the Municipal Research and Services Center's Consultant Roster. Only two RPQ's <br />were received for the project from Carollo Engineers and PACE Engineers. After reviewing the <br />RPQ'S, Carollo Engineers was selected to design the MLK Way S Water Main Project.
