City of Tukwila <br />Police Department - Mike Villa, Chief <br />November 9, 2017 <br />6:30pm-8:00pm <br />Members Present: Jun Castillo, Jan Bolerjack, Jerry Thornton, John Lindsay, <br />Staff Present: Chris Putman, Deputy Chief Linton <br />Guest: <br />• Minutes for 7/13/17, 8/10/17, 9/14/17, and 10/12; <br />• Chief's update: <br />• Spoke about the Council Confirmation and expressed thanks to the Council for <br />the confidence. <br />• First order of business was to fill the gaps in the chain of command. Promoted <br />Rick Mitchell to Deputy Chief, Eric Lund to Commander, Adam Balcom to <br />Sgt., Officer Matt Ludwig to Acting Sgt., and Kraig Boyd as A/Cmdr. Sgt. <br />Zack Anderson will be CPT Sgt. <br />• Looking for chaplains for PD and FD. Looking for 4 to spread the work. Jan <br />would be willing, to consider looking at it. <br />• Staffing: <br />• 5 in academy <br />lateral inbound and one in background <br />3-4 officers on limited duty <br />Roughly 30% of the officers are eligible to retire <br />Live with body cams on Nov 1 <br />• Officers really like them <br />• Builds trust and is the impartial witness. <br />Over the last 2 weeks the Chief has been engaging staff to talk about <br />expectations <br />• See talking point <br />ngs approved <br />Allan Ekberg, Mayor <br />• COPCAB Project: <br />• Mailboxes? <br />• Engage with the community ideas? <br />• Speak to CAP, with a UAS. <br />• December meeting potluck.
