Linton, Chief <br />December 14, 2017 <br />6:30pm-8:OOpm <br />Members Present: Jun Castillo, Jerry Thornton, John Lindsay, Kim Karns <br />Staff Present: Chris Partman, Deputy Chief Linton <br />Guest: <br />• Minutes for 11/9/17 meeting approved <br />Allan Ekberg, Mayor <br />• Chief's update: <br />• Staffing is the same, expected to have at least 5 officers retire by August 2018. <br />• Recruiting is getting tougher throughout the region <br />• Renton offers $10,000 bonus, sick and vacation hours available at the <br />beginning, plus take-home cars. <br />• Currently 15% of the officers in the State of Washington are eligible <br />for retirement. <br />• Two new officers graduated from the Academy on 12/13. <br />• Working on 2018 goals, first meeting was this week <br />• Look at City's Strategic plan and set goals based on that. <br />• Just finished Shop with a Cop, news media was there, shown on KIRO7 <br />• COPCAB Project: <br />• Mailboxes? <br />• Engage with the community ideas? <br />• Speak to CAP, with a UAS. — John will contact after the first of the year. <br />• Have members observe PD activities and report out to the community <br />• A newsletter from COPCAB to the community <br />1. Have Victor come to a meeting, Jan or Feb <br />• Good of the Order <br />• Jerry — Public Safety Plan meeting last weekend had great attendance, <br />probably over 60 people. Kudos to Water District #125 for their Stewardship <br />Award from Washington State. <br />Next meeting will be on Thursday, 1/11/18 6:30-8pm Duwamish Conference Room, <br />6300 Southcenter Blvd. rd Floor.
