Section 1. Chapter Title. Ordinance No. 1758 §1 (part), as codified at TMC Section 18.54.010, is <br />hereby amended to read as follows: <br />18.54.010 Purpose <br />A. The purpose of this chapter is to implement the Urban Forestry Comprehensive <br />Plan goals; to maintain and increase tree canopy throughout the City; and to provide <br />requirements for tree maintenance, tree retention and protection. Trees and their canopy <br />act to improve air quality, promote the public health, reduce human -related stress, <br />increase property values, reduce heat islands, and reduce storm water flows. The tree <br />regulations also support the Low Impact Development goals of the Comprehensive Plan <br />and the City's National Pollution Discharge Elimination System permit. <br />B. In particular, the purpose of this chapter is to: <br />1. Protect existing trees prior to and during development; <br />2. Establish protections for the long-term maintenance of trees and vegetation; <br />3.
