If successful, the grant agreement would be with the King County Flood
Control District. Current City policy requires approval by the appropriate Committee before
applying for grants.
DISCUSSION
The City's Green the Green Project will enhance shoreline riparian plant communities within
Tukwila, which will benefit salmon and beautify our river corridor. Currently, the City and its
consultant, the King Conservation District, are working with two private property owners to provide
shoreline vegetation enhancements consistent with WRIA 9's Re -Green the Green: Riparian
Revegetation Strategy for the Green Duwamish and Central Puget Sound Watershed (WRIA 9,
2016). The maximum amount that may be awarded is $50,000.00.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no match required for the WRIA 9 grant. Other funding for this project comes from a
currently active CWM grant for $53,459.00, and a portion of CIP funds as $20,000.00 is budgeted
in the CIP for 2018.
RECOMMENDATION
Council is being asked to approve the submittal of application to WRIA 9 and to other grant
opportunities that may become available for the Green the Green Project.
Attachments: page 107, 2017 CIP
2018 Grant Funding Available for Riparian Revegetation Projects
W:WW Eng \PROJECTS\A- DR Projects\Green the Green \ Grants \2018 CWM Grant\Info Memo_Green the Green grant app_2018-04-20 gl.docx
37
