<br />ARTSCOMMISSION <br />MINUTES <br />bƚǝĻƒĬĻƩ ЊЎͲ ЋЉЊА ЎʹЉЉ Ʀ͵ƒ͵ ǒƉǞźƌğ /ƚƒƒǒƓźƷǤ /ĻƓƷĻƩ <br /> <br />1.Call to Order: Chair Trish Gilmore called the meeting to order at 5:03 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br />2.Attendance: <br /> <br />Commissioners Trish Gilmore, Cynthia Chesak, Alex Villella, Helen Enguerra, Brian Kennedy, Sheila <br />Coppola, and Yuriko Rollins <br />Absent Daniel Humkey <br />Guests Jeff Lund, Music Director - Rainier Symphony <br />Staff Olena Perry <br /> <br />3.Approval of Agenda: Trish Gilmore moved to accept the agenda. Sheila Coppola requested to <br /> <br />discuss the AC logo. Staff noted that would be discussed during Committee Reports. Cynthia <br />Chesak seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously. <br /> <br />4.Approval of Minutes: Cynthia Chesak moved to approve the minutes of October 18, 2017 <br /> <br />meeting. Sheila Coppola noted a correction for the minutes: Section 7 Committee Reports, item C <br /> Sheila Coppola was responsible for the Art Commission logo redesign and Alex Villella was <br />responsible for the art brochure design. The motion to accept the amended minutes passed <br />unanimously. <br />5.Unfinished Business: <br /> <br />a.Arts Commission Budget 2017 Spending Plan Olena presented a brief overview of some <br /> <br />items that the Arts Commission could support with their 2017 allocated budget. The 2017 Arts <br />Commission Budget requested was approved. In addition, Tukwila Parks and Recreation staff <br />have been authorized to spend in excess of $1,000 for miscellaneous supplies if needed, up to <br />another $1,000 for a total of $2,000. Sheila Coppola will be sending links for a quality drying <br />rack. Olena Perry will reach out painting instructor to request recommendations for easels. <br />The Arts Commission added another teaching artist for Spirit of Giving or Winter Break Camp <br />for a total of three for December 2017. <br />The Arts Commission will navigate decision for booth set up (graphics) via email in hopes of <br />purchasing the needed items in December 2017. <br />6.New Business <br /> <br />a.Rainier Symphony Update Jeff Lund, Music Director <br /> <br />Jeff Lund requested that the Art Commission and Foster High School review the original <br />contract that was created in 2009 when the auditorium was built. Between 2009 and current <br />day the school has gone through staff turnover, the current employees do not seem to have <br />knowledge of the original contract. By default, this is affecting the Rainier Symphony, they are <br />unable to schedule the auditorium in appropriate time for musicians to schedule. The Rainier <br />1 <br /> <br />
