BUSINESS AGENDA <br /> <br />A. Lodging Tax Funding Application: Museum of Flight and City of Tukwila. <br />Staff is seeking Council approval of two applications for lodging tax funds as recommended by <br />the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee on July 2, 2018. The Museum of Flight is requesting $50,000 <br />to support its Veterans Day weekend activities, including the grand opening of the new Vietnam <br />Veterans Memorial Park featuring a restored B-52 bomber. If approved by the Council, a final <br />scope of work consistent with the application will be finalized in a contract to be presented to <br />the Community Development and Neighborhoods Committee at a future meeting date. The <br />as Southcenter or Seattle. If this funding is awarded, the Museum will credit the City of Tukwila <br />as a lead sponsor and will reference Tukwila as a location on social media, event programs, and <br />onsite materials. Because the Museum of Flight is a nationally known entity its marketing often <br />aligns itself with the Seattle region. Councilmembers Hougardy and Kruller stated they have <br />seen an increase in Tukwila references due in part <br />Councilmember Idan stated he feels they could do more with the Tukwila name and will not <br />support the request for this reason. <br /> <br />The City of Tukwila is requesting $5,000 to support marketing of a new event, <br />Bowling <br />opportunity to bowl with drag queen <br />marketing and promotion. The full $5,000 is unlikely to be needed. The City of Tukwila does not <br />currently have an LGBTQ Pride event and also aims to have creative new types of events <br />specifically in the Southcenter area. <br /> <br />Museum of Flight request: MAJORITY APPROVAL WITH COUNCILMEMBER IDAN OPPOSED. <br />FORWARD TO JULY 16, 2018 REGULAR CONSENT AGENDA. <br /> <br />City of Tukwila request: UNANIMOUS APPROVAL.
