<br /> <br /> <br /> City of Tukwila <br /> <br /> <br /> City Council Community Development & Neighborhoods Committee <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT & NEIGHBORHOODS COMMITTEE <br />Meeting Minutes <br />June 26, 2018 5:30 p.m. Hazelnut Conference Room, City Hall <br /> <br />Councilmembers: Zak Idan, Acting Chair, <br />Staff: Jack Pace, Derek Speck, Minnie Dhaliwal, Laurel Humphrey <br />Guest: Chuck Parrish, resident <br />CALL TO ORDER: Acting Chair Idan called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br />I.BUSINESS AGENDA <br /> <br /> <br />Tukwila Village Lease Authorization <br />A. <br /> <br />Staff is seeking Council approval of a lease for the Tukwila Village commons and plaza pursuant <br />to a Lease Option Agreement set to expire July 31, 2018. Because the City and the developer are <br />still working on formation of the nonprofit/community organization that will manage the <br />property, this will afford the City the ability to manage the plaza and commons until the <br />nonprofit is formed and can assume the lease. There will be minor expenses associated with <br />staffing, utilities and cleaning, but the City could earn revenue on rentals to offset the costs. With <br />regard to the formation of the nonprofit, the City is allotted one Board position, which will be <br />filled by the Mayor for one year. Staff plans to seek direction from Council on how to handle <br />future appointments to this position. UNANIMOUS APPROVAL. FORWARD TO JULY 9, 2018 <br />COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE. <br /> <br />Tukwila Municipal Code Update: Environmentally Sensitive Areas <br />B. <br /> <br />Staff briefed the Committee on efforts to update Tukwila Municipal Code 18.45, Environmentally <br />Sensitive Areas. The Growth Management Act requires all cities to periodically review and <br />streams, steep slopes, and fish and wildlife habitat <br />. <br />proposed timeline includes public outreach between July and October, Planning Commission <br />review in October and November, and Council review in early 2019.
