PRESENTATIONS <br />King County 2019 Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan <br />Resources and Parks provided an update on the status and policy considerations of the <br />Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan, which is currently in the Council review process <br />in preparation for adoption by the State in 2019. King County is also working on a new solid <br />waste rate proposal for 2019/2020, reflecting a modest increase consistent with other providers <br />and a proposal for a discount for low-income customers that haul their own garbage to the <br />Transfer Stations. King County staff offered the opportunity to tour the Cedar Hills facility to <br />Councilmembers and staff. <br /> <br />II.BUSINESS AGENDA <br /> <br />A. Contract: Construction of Green the Green Project <br />Staff is seeking Council approval of a contract with Applied Ecology, LLC in the amount of <br />$132,634.70 for construction of the Green the Green Project. This project will restore sections <br />of the Green/Duwamish River to provide shade and improve water quality for salmon and <br />other aquatic species. The project is funded by the Surface Water Fund and two King County <br />Flood Control District grants. Chair McLeod noted that the low bid was significantly less than <br />the others and hopes that the price does not escalate later. Councilmember Quinn suggested <br />that the memo be updated to include more detail on the organization and its qualifications <br />for this project. UNANIMOUS APPROVAL.
