( <br />PARKS & R.EC:REATION <br />ARTS COMMISSION <br />MINUTES <br />June 13, 2018 5:00 p.m. Tukwila Community Center <br />1. Call to Order: Chair Cynthia Chesak called the meeting to order at 5:03 pm <br />2. Attendance: <br />Commissioners: Trish Gilmore, Cynthia Chesak, Sheila Coppola, Alex Villella, Daniel Humkey, Noe <br />Rodriguez and Yuriko Rollins <br />Absent: Helen Enguerra <br />Guests: Curtis Goodman <br />Staff: Tracy Gallaway <br />3. Welcome to Noe Rodriguez <br />4. Approval of Agenda: Sheila Coppola moved to accept the agenda. Trisha Gilmore seconded the <br />motion. The motion passed unanimously. <br />5. Approval of Minutes: Sheila Coppola moved to accept the minutes, noting one correction. Yuriko <br />Rollins seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. <br />6. Introduction of Guests: Curtis Goodman — Tukwila resident and Renton Civic Theater board <br />member. <br />7. Unfinished Business: <br />a. Fine Arts Show debrief — see attachment <br />8. New Business <br />a. Tukwila Village Celebration event — Saturday, July 21st, 1:00-4:00pm <br />• Arts Commission funds will be used to pay $350 for a teaching artist to lead an arts <br />activity. <br />• Volunteers are needed to assist at the event — Tracy will follow up via email. <br />9. Sub -Committee Reports <br />a. Visual Arts: TCC Art Wall — Sub -committee will schedule a meeting to discuss and plan the <br />year. Tracy will outreach to Fine Art Show recipients with information. <br />b. Performing Arts: Cynthia Chesak attended the final Rainier Symphony performance. Ms. <br />Chesak attended a meeting in May with various stakeholders of the Foster Performing Arts <br />Center (the City and Tukwila School District) to discuss technical support, maintenance and <br />facility scheduling for the Rainier Symphony. There is some concern from the Rainier <br />Symphony regarding scheduling the Foster PAC for next season because they haven't <br />received information about date availability.
