• Work on issues related to facility maintenance at the Foster Performing Arts Center <br />• Explore opportunities to support art that is environmentally conscious, builds <br />community, and promotes social change. <br />7. New Business <br />a. The next chair for the Arts Commission is Helen Enguerra (January 2019). Helen expressed <br />that due to personal commitments, she isn't going to be able to take on that responsibility. <br />After discussion between the commissioners, Sheila Coppola made a motion to extend <br />Cynthia Chesak as the chair of the Arts Commission for 2019. Alex Villella seconded the <br />motion. The motion passed unanimously. <br />8. Sub -Committee Reports <br />a. Visual Arts: <br />• TCC Art Wall -- it was determined that the Artists in Residence will be featured on <br />the art wall in November and December. During that time period the visual arts <br />subcommittee will meet to discuss how to proceed with promoting 2019 <br />opportunities to display on the art wall. <br />b. Performing Arts: <br />• Rainier Symphony — The first Rainier Symphony performances for the 2018-2019 <br />season will be October 215t at 7:00pm and October 22' at 3:00pm in the <br />Performing Arts Center at Foster High School. <br />• Seattle Symphony performance at the Sullivan Center, 2pm on Sunday, October <br />215t. The Seattle Symphony performance was organized by the Tukwila Village <br />Development Authority. <br />c. Outreach: No report. <br />d. Staff Report: Due to the regular meeting date falling on the day before Thanksgiving, the <br />staff liaison has set the November meeting for Wednesday, November 28th. The staff <br />liaison asked if the committee would be interested in hosting a meet and greet event for <br />the Artists in Residence on this date instead of a regular meeting. Noe Rodriguez noted <br />that he would be out of town and unable to attend this meeting. The staff liaison will <br />follow up with the arts commissioners after the meeting to determine the next meeting <br />date. <br />9. Other: Commissioner Sheila Coppola read a prepared statement from the organizers of the <br />Duwamish River Residency program. Due to the similar naming convention for our Artist in <br />Residency River project to the Duwamish River Residency program, they have had several inquiries <br />and want to make sure that it is clear these are two distinct and unrelated programs. <br />10. Agenda for Next/Future Meetings: <br />Art Commission Vacancy — Recruitment Plan <br />2018 Budget Update <br />2019 Work Plan Development <br />11. Adjournment: Alex Villella motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:17 pm, Sheila Coppola seconded <br />the motion, the motion passed unanimously. <br />2 <br />
