City of Tu <br />Public Works Department - Henry Hash, Director <br />Allan Ekberg, Mayor <br />INFORMATIONAL MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Transportation and Infrastructure Committee <br />FROM: Henry Hash, Public Works Director /// <br />BY: Scott Bates, Traffic Engineering Coordinator <br />CC: Mayor Ekberg <br />DATE: November 9, 2018 <br />SUBJECT: Baker Boulevard Non -Motorized Improvements Project <br />Project No. 91610409, Contract No. 17-128 <br />Project Completion and Acceptance <br />ISSUE <br />Accept the construction contract with Road Construction Northwest, Inc. as complete and authorize <br />release of retainage. <br />BACKGROUND <br />Baker Boulevard Non -Motorized Improvements included bike lanes and a road diet on Baker Boulevard <br />from Andover Park West to Christensen Road. Reconstruction of the sidewalk access ramps at the <br />intersection of Andover Park East/Baker Blvd was part of the City's Americans with Disabilities Act <br />(ADA) Program and was included with this project for cost savings. <br />The Notice to Proceed for Contract Number 17-128 with Road Construction Northwest of Renton, WA <br />was issued on August 28, 2017 and construction was physically completed on July 2, 2018. The last <br />remaining Affidavit of Wages Paid was received on July 17, 2018. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT <br />The Baker Boulevard Non -Motorized Improvements' budget was $882,000, which included a 10% <br />contingency and was funded with a $1 million grant from King County Department of Natural Resources <br />and Parks and the City's ADA Improvement Program. Minor overruns and underruns on quanties for <br />traffic control, utility conflict resolution and landscape restoration resulted in a 3.7% increase to the <br />original contracted amount. Retainage is being held by the City in the amount of $41,409.89. <br />Contract <br />Construction Contract Amount (N/A — Rule 171) $ 799,143.00 <br />Unit Price Overruns/Underruns 29,055.09 <br />Total Contract Amount $ 828,198.09 <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Council is being asked to formally accept the Baker Boulevard Non -Motorized Improvement Project <br />with Road Construction Northwest, Inc. in the amount of $828,198.09 as complete, and authorize the <br />release of retainage subject to standard claim and lien release procedures, and to consider this item on <br />the Consent Agenda at the November 19, 2018 Regular Council Meeting. <br />ATTACHMENT <br />Notice of Completion, Contract #17-128 <br />W:1PW Eng\PROJECTSW- RW & RS Projects Baker Blvd Non -Motorized (91610409)1Construction\Closeout to TIC11nfo Memo_2018 Baker NM Closeout 110918 gl.docx <br />111 <br />
