TO: <br />City of Tukwila <br />Allan Ekberg, Mayor <br />Mayor's Office - David Cline, City Administrator <br />The City of opportunity, the community of choice <br />Mayor Ekberg <br />Councilmembers <br />FROM: David Cline, City Administrator <br />DATE: November 14, 2018 <br />SUBJECT: Report for November 19, 2018 Regular Council Meeting <br />The City Administrator Report is meant to provide the Council, staff and community an update on <br />the activities of the City and on issues that concern Tukwila. Please let me know if you have any <br />questions or need additional information about any of the following items. <br />I. Intergovernmental Update <br />• Williamsburg Leadership Institute: Mayor Ekberg attended the International City/County <br />Management Association Williamsburg Leadership Institute October 26 - November 1. <br />• Lower Green River Corridor Meeting: On November 2 Mayor Ekberg hosted a meeting with <br />the Mayor's from Renton, Kent and Auburn, King County staff and WRIA 9 staff and <br />Councilmember Robertson as the Chair of WRIA 9 to discuss options for the Lower Green <br />River Corridor. <br />• National League of Cities City Summit: Mayor Ekberg, Councilmembers Hougardy, Kruller, <br />McLeod and Idan and Council Analyst Laurel Humphrey attended the National League of <br />Cities City Summit November 6 - 11 in Los Angeles, California. <br />II. Community Events <br />• Opportunity Zone Workshop: On November 2 the City hosted a workshop on Opportunity <br />Zones at the Sullivan Center at Tukwila Village. The workshop was intended for local property <br />owners, developers and investors to learn how the new Federal Opportunity Zone tax <br />incentive works. The event included a tour of Tukwila's four Opportunity Zones and <br />highlighted development opportunities along Tukwila International Boulevard. <br />Councilmember Quinn welcomed the participants and Planning Commissioner Sharon Mann <br />spoke about development on the Boulevard. Councilmember McLeod was one of <br />approximately 50 people who participated.
