apprenticeships opportunities for <br />traditionally disadvantaged businesses. <br />City Equity Plan Goal 6: The City will build capacity around equity within City government and the broader community <br />ES&J Workplan Items <br />Current City Efforts <br />2019 City Workplan Items <br />The Commission requests that <br />the City of Tukwila join the <br />Local and Regional <br />Government Alliance on Race <br />& Equity (GARE) at $1,000 per <br />year for cities with up to 1,000 <br />employees. Among other <br />benefits, GARE members have <br />access to training and <br />consulting programs, and <br />implementation grants. <br />The City has been an active participant in <br />the Governing for Regional Equity and <br />Inclusion group since it formed in 2017 <br />and was on the planning committee for <br />the recent conference. <br />The City will join GARE in January of 2019. <br />A group of Commissioners will <br />identify events, conferences, <br />tools, Tukwila School District <br />events and meetings and <br />other important gatherings for <br />Commissioners to attend and <br />represent the Commission. <br />They will also research and <br />recommend tools from GARE. <br />Commissioners who attend <br />webinars, conferences, and <br />events will report back to the <br />Commission at the next <br />meeting. <br />City personnel staffing the commission will pass along information <br />on such events to the Commission as they surface, as well as attend <br />such events as time allows. <br />
