Pinky Estell BOARDS/COMMISSIONS APPLICATION FOR APPOINTMENT <br />Professional/Community Activities (organizations, clubs, service groups, etc): <br />I have spent my life being actively involved in my community through volunteering and <br />pursuing a career that supports growth of the arts, heritage, and culture. Below is an <br />outline of some of the highlighted activities during my life. <br />Present professional or community activities: <br />United State Institute of Theater Technology: <br />NW Regional Chapter: Programming Chair March 2015-Present <br />National Board Mentorship Committee Sep. 2014-Present <br />National Membership Committee Aug. 2013-Present <br />Membership Committee Regional Section Liaison Nov. 2018-Present <br />Hobbies/Interests: <br />The key to living a healthy life is a dedication to work/life balance. This is always a challenge for those <br />who successfully pursue their dream careers, but nevertheless it is vital to require oneself to have this <br />balance. For me, I found serenity in gardening in my backyard vegetable patch and the plants inside my <br />house. It's a wonderful experience to engage in a gradual process that forces you to slow down and see <br />the world for the bliss that each season brings. <br />Besides gardening, I have found that we are lucky to live in region that has so many wonderful parks to <br />camp at and explore. As such, I make it a point to set aside time to go hiking, camping, fishing, and <br />canoeing from early spring to late fall. <br />Qualifications as related to this position: <br />I graduated from Cornish College of the Arts with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Performance Production <br />and UNCSA Masters of Fine Arts in Technical Direction. I have worked as Technical Director for ACT <br />San Francisco Conservatory/2nd stage, San Francisco Opera's Merola Opera program, National Black <br />Theater Festival, Intiman Theatre, and the Cornish Playhouse. Presently, I am the Director of the <br />Cornish Playhouse and serve as Vice President of the UpTown Arts and Culture Coalition in Seattle. In <br />addition, I have remained very active in the event side of the industry working as a freelance project <br />manager, and stage manager. <br />I have continued my professional development through my studies in the aerial fabric and rope <br />performing arts, and installation sculptures. Additionally, I have recently taken up a strong interest in <br />historical restoration of arts and cultural facilities. This has brought me to work with my home town of <br />Waverly and the Sons and Daughters of Norway in Seattle to raise funds to restore two century -old <br />Other comments/additional information for consideration: <br />I'm excited for the possible opportunity to serve my local community here in Tukwila, through the sharing <br />of my life's work and study. I believe that the key to a successful city requires a sense of obligation and <br />pride for every citizen to contribute to their community.
