ARTS COMMISSION <br />MINUTES <br />March 27, 2019 6:00 p.m. Tukwila Community Center <br />1. Call to Order: Chair Cynthia Chesak called the meeting to order at 5:58pm. <br />2. Attendance: <br />Board: Cynthia Chesak, Chair; Helen Enguerra, Vice Chair Commissioners: Pinky Estell, Sheila Coppola, <br />Yuriko Rollins <br />Staff Liaison: Abbey Messmer, Outreach Assistant <br />Artist in Residence: Sarah Savage <br />Guests: Eric Tishkoff and Susan Reynolds, Rainier Symphony; Sarah Kavage, Artist in Residence; Dylan <br />Mahler, Foster High School; Curtis N, Renton Civic Center <br />Absences: Noe Rodriguez, Trisha Gilmore <br />3. Approval of Agenda: Sheila moved to accept the agenda. Helen seconded the motion. The motion passed <br />unanimously. <br />4. Approval of Minutes: Helen moved to accept the minutes. Sheila seconded the motion. The motion passed <br />unanimously. <br />5. Introduction of Guests: <br />Eric Tishkoff (P) & Susan Reynolds (VP), Rainer Symphony <br />Dylan Mahler, Perspective student representative <br />6. Welcome to the Arts Commission: Pinky Estell, VP Uptown Arts and Culture District in Seattle <br />7. Presentation Rainier Symphony: <br />• Concerts that were cancelled due to inclement weather in February have been rescheduled to weekend of <br />April 5-7, 2019. <br />• Rainier Symphony presented 3 ideas for how Rainier Symphony can collaborate with Foster High School <br />students and neighboring schools: <br />o Interested in coordinating an educational concert with school district targeting 5th graders. <br />Arrangements would need to be made to have students bused to Foster PAC (45 min concerts, 2 <br />concerts that day- Spring 2020). <br />o Interested in working with Foster HS choir for a concert in 2020. Fine Arts Show during the <br />concerts is a possibility if school is willing. <br />o Interested in inviting band students attend rehearsal (not limited to just Foster HS). <br />8. Unfinished Business: <br />• AiRs/ Creative Consultancy Update & Next Steps: <br />o Sarah presented information on upcoming AiRs events <br />o Arts in Tukwila Facebook page is now active <br />1 <br />
