She will have additional information at <br />the next meeting after the onboarding phone call with the organization <br />scheduled later in February. <br />• Rachel provided an overview on ELGL, an organization for municipal staff that <br />has equity as one of their core values. <br />• The group reviewed the legislation target calendar provided in the packet. <br />• Commission members shared the following information in the Feedback and <br />Knowledge item: <br />o Showalter Men Making an Impact Event <br />o February 14th the school district will host a traditional African American <br />traveling museum <br />o Two commission members are working with the school district, technical <br />colleges and more to identify key people and programs that are <br />workforce development contacts/opportunities in the region. <br />o City staff shared the Regional Apprenticeship guidebook co -sponsored by <br />the City of Tukwila <br />o A commission member shared that the governor's budget includes <br />poverty reduction programs around workforce development. <br />VI. Miscellaneous <br />• A commission member discussed the difficulties of community engagement, <br />work being done to engage seniors to better understand the need for senior <br />programs in the city and the reality that the Community Connectors feel their <br />communities have been over surveyed. There was no resolution, but <br />Commission members reminded all that this work is hard and one must just <br />continue to put themselves out there. <br />VII.
