City of Tukwila <br />Allan Ekberg, Mayor <br />TO: Public Safety Committee <br />Finance Committee <br />FROM: Rachel Bianchi, Deputy City Administrator <br />CC: Mayor Ekberg <br />DATE: October 1, 2019 <br />SUBJECT: 2020 Legislative Agenda <br />ISSUE <br />The City of Tukwila develops an annual legislative agenda for use in Olympia during the <br />legislative session. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City's Legislative Agenda provides direction to staff and consensus among the elected <br />officials as to what policy positions are taken on behalf of the City of Tukwila during the <br />legislative session. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />The Public Safety and Finance Committees are being asked to provide comment and feedback, <br />which will be incorporated into the agenda for discussion at the November 25, 2019 Committee <br />of the Whole meeting. The full Council is being asked to formally adopt the agenda at the <br />December 2 Regular Meeting. The City's lobbyist, David Foster, will provide a legislative <br />update at the December 2 meeting. <br />At the November 4, 2019 meetina of the Public Safety Committee, the members asked that the <br />followina items be included in the leaislative aaenda: these edits are reflected in the attached <br />draft: <br />• Advancing racial equity <br />• Workforce development <br />• Combatting climate change <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />Resolution in draft form <br />Attachment A — Legislative Agenda <br />
