DRAFT <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING ADOPTION OF <br />A TITLE VI PROGRAM AND THE REPORTING <br />REQUIREMENTS AS REQUIRED BY THE FEDERAL <br />TRANSIT ADMINISTRATION. <br />WHEREAS, Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is a federal statute that provides <br />that no person shall, on the grounds of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from <br />participation in, denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any <br />program or activity receiving federal financial assistance; and <br />WHEREAS, all programs receiving financial assistance from the Federal Transit <br />Administration (FTA) are subject to Title VI and the U.S. Department of Transportation's <br />implementing regulation at 49 CFR part 21; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Tukwila is a recipient of financial assistance from the FTA <br />through its financial agreements with King County; and <br />WHEREAS, the FTA requires that all recipients of financial assistance from the FTA <br />document their compliance by adopting a Title VI program; and <br />WHEREAS, King County has requested that the City of Tukwila, as a sub -grantee, <br />comply with this requirement, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, <br />WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The City of Tukwila Title VI Program, attached hereto as Exhibit A, is <br />adopted. <br />Section 2.
