DRAFT A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING ADOPTION OF A TITLE VI PROGRAM AND THE REPORTING REQUIREMENTS AS REQUIRED BY THE FEDERAL TRANSIT ADMINISTRATION. WHEREAS, Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is a federal statute that provides that no person shall, on the grounds of race, color, or national origin, be excluded from participation in, denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance; and WHEREAS, all programs receiving financial assistance from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) are subject to Title VI and the U.S. Department of Transportation's implementing regulation at 49 CFR part 21; and WHEREAS, the City of Tukwila is a recipient of financial assistance from the FTA through its financial agreements with King County; and WHEREAS, the FTA requires that all recipients of financial assistance from the FTA document their compliance by adopting a Title VI program; and WHEREAS, King County has requested that the City of Tukwila, as a sub -grantee, comply with this requirement, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TUKWILA, WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The City of Tukwila Title VI Program, attached hereto as Exhibit A, is adopted. Section 2. This resolution shall be effective immediately upon passage.
