City Council Community Development & Neighborhoods Committee <br />COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT & NEIGHBORHOODS COMMITTEE <br />Meeting Minutes <br />October 29, 2019 - 5:30 p.m. - Hazelnut Conference Room, City Hall <br />Councilmembers: De'Sean Quinn, Chair; Dennis Robertson, Verna Seal <br />Staff: David Cline, Jack Pace, Rick Still, Robert Eaton, Kris Kelly, Stacy Hansen, Kraig <br />Boyd, Laurel Humphrey <br />CALL TO ORDER: Chair Quinn called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. <br />I. PRESENTATIONS <br />II. BUSINESSAGENDA <br />A. Parks, Recreation, and Open Space (PROS) Plan <br />A representative from MIG, Inc. updated the Committee on the update to the Parks, <br />Recreation, and Open Space (PROS) Plan, focusing on process, progress, key findings and <br />next steps. A significant portion of the work has been focused on engagement for a <br />community needs assessment. The next phase will work to identify the capital <br />improvement strategy. The plan will be presented to the City Council early next year. Chair <br />Quinn urged continued family engagement using PTA resources. DISCUSSION ONLY. <br />B. Interlocal Agreement: Property Acquisition <br />Staff is seeking Council approval of an Interlocal Agreement with King County to receive <br />Conservation Futures Tax Grant funding in the amounts of $335,000.00 (per year) for the <br />acquisition of a parcel in the Duwamish Community and $25,000 for an Equitable Access <br />Initial Acquisition Work project. Chair Quinn stated that he will recuse himself from voting <br />on this matter due to related previous professional work. MAJORITY APPROVAL. <br />FORWARD TO NOVEMBER 4, 2019 REGULAR MEETING. <br />C. Resolution: Cottonwood Corner <br />Staff is seeking Council approval of a resolution that would name a park parcel located at <br />the corner of South 128' Street and 37' Avenue South as "Cottonwood Corner." This site is <br />part of the Green Tukwila program implementation and has an active stewardship group <br />that has recommended this name. If approved, the Park Commission budget can fund an <br />estimated $2,500 for a name sign. UNANIMOUS APPROVAL. FORWARD TO NOVEMBER 12, <br />2019 COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE. <br />
