Linton, Chief COPCAB Minutes October 10, 2019 6:30pm-8:00pm Members Present: Jerry Thornton, Kim Karns, Jan Boler ack, John Lindsay Staff Present: Chris Partman, Chief Linton Guest: • Minutes for 9/1219 approved • Chief s update: • Staffing, not a lot of change, still have 3 openings. • The Chief has a good slate of candidates to interview soon • Two in Academy • One waiting for Academy • One in background • Non -Commissioned, fully staffed, with one vacancy in a grant -funded position. • Second Quarter report, handout. • Discussion on the savings to Tukwila PD due to the new SCORE manager. • Question: What does the Chief recommend to an 18 year old who wants to become an officer when they are 21. The Chief recommends getting some college because that opens promotional opportunities. There are also department funds to assist with college costs. • Question: Will there be a celebration for Boyd when he gets rotated out of the CPT position. Consensus is to invite him to the December meeting/potluck. • Good of the Order • Jan — November 8th Fundraiser for the Tukwila Pantry. Tent City is on Riverton Church Property and things are going well. There is a huge need for coats and other warm clothing. • Jerry — Wanted to know what the different department Units do. Perhaps have a presentation on what each unit does. Asked about the accuracy of the article on the benefits of Daylight Savings Time.
