Linton, Chief COPCAB Minutes May 9, 2019 6:30pm-8:00pm Members Present: Kim Karns, Jan Bolerjack, John Lindsay, Tosh Sharp, Jun Castillo Staff Present: Chief Linton, Chris Partman Guest: • Minutes for 4/11/19 and 5/9/19 approved Chief s update: • 4th of July, this year no fireworks at Fort Dent, so there is a concern that the fireworks in the neighborhoods could be off the hook. So rather than using the budgeted overtime for the large event, the Chief will have teams out doing fireworks emphasis on overtime on the 3`d and 4th of July. We can provide a link to lists of fireworks events. TMC 8.12 prohibits sales and use of fireworks and TMC 8.45 lists the penalties. • Question about speed camera progress. The Chief will present the data to the Public Safety Committee, then Council as a Whole and finally at a regular Council Meeting. He will also talk to the school district superintendent about the data. Enforcement photos will only be taken of the real vehicle plate, not the driver or pedestrians. • Jan saw an article about a shooting in Seatac and asked a couple TPD officers who did not know about it. This was the shooting at the McMicken Safeway. • The Chief has a report of all King County shootings from last year. He will bring it next meeting. • Survey update — • Good of the Order Chris - Next meeting Derek Speck will attend to speak about the City's strategic plan. Also, Touch a Truck will be the last Saturday in July. John - This weekend Emerald Downs is having Native American relay races on Saturday and Sunday.
