Community Services & Safety Minutes.............................................................................................................. February 24, 2020 <br />D. Public Safety Plan: Fire Station Murals and Next Steps <br />Staff briefed the Committee on the overall approach to the Public Safety Plan art, how <br />indigenous cultures will be honored, and how the community will be involved in the future. <br />Staff recommends that the Equity and Social Justice Commission review the public art <br />policies when appropriate. Staff is also seeking Committee direction on whether the Arts <br />Commission should have an agenda item on February 26 to approve or reject the Fire <br />Station mural artwork. <br />Committee question(s) requiring follow up: <br />• Provide the artist's response on community feedback regarding the proposed <br />silhouette mural for fire station 51 and 52. <br />• Provide information on the diversity of Arts Commissioners. <br />• Provide information on the process for delaying installation of artwork at fire station <br />51 and 52. <br />Committee Recommendation: <br />Divided recommendation. Committee Chair Kruller proposed the Arts Commission and Equity <br />and Social Justice Commission each review, evaluate and discuss the Fire Station mural <br />artwork, then provide feedback and advise to the Council on steps going forward. <br />Councilmembers Kruller and Delostrinos Johnson were in favor and Councilmember McLeod <br />was opposed. <br />II.
