Transportation & Infrastructure Committee Minutes............................................................................................August 3, 2020
D. Miscellaneous
South 160t" St/42nd Ave S Intersection - Councilmember Kruller noted that a resident asked for
speed humps or a roundabout to slow speeding on S 160t" St before 42nd Ave S. Staff noted that
they are meeting regularly with the City of SeaTac on this issue since they have the majority of
control of this intersection. Speed cushions are not recommended on steep grades and that
the grade would also be an issue with a roundabout as well as lack of right-of-way. Both cities
will continue to work together and research options.
53rd /52nd Ave S Traffic Revision- Councilmember Kruller noted that some residents asked if
additional speed cushions could be added on 52nd Ave S as part of the traffic revision. Staff
recommends first constructing the revision per plan and monitor for issues. Additional speed
cushions could be considered as needed in the future. Inquiries should be submitted through
the Neighborhood Traffic Calming Program process.
The meeting adjourned at 6:30 p.m.
CDJ
Committee Chair Approval
Minutes by HK, reviewed by GL
