Page 2 of 2 <br />July 23, 2020 <br />BAR Minutes <br />Bruce McCain and Travis Ness, Hewitt Design Group, for the applicant, addressed questions for <br />the BAR. <br />Chair Watters made comments and inquiries regarding landscaping above the split rail fence, she <br />was also interested in adding a recommendation. She suggested substituting the ash plantings and <br />replacing it with a different large tree, and switching the native spruce with a different native tree <br />TESTIMONY: <br />There was no public testimony. <br />The public hearing was closed. <br />DELIBERATION/COMMENTS: <br />The following comments were made about the project; thank you for a great submittal; the <br />developers and engineers did a great job covering landscaping; staff did their job, due diligence; <br />happy the parking exceeds the requirements; well -designed building; complete packet; sets visual <br />standard for future development on Interurban Blvd, it's an enhancement and set the mark; looking <br />forward to the landscaping and greenery; well presented, well proposed, thought out, thank you for <br />the submittal; kudos to staff and the applicant; welcome the street scape; contributes to the <br />economic impact of the community when needed the most; brings jobs to the City; care in <br />mitigating environmental impacts; thank you to all for your collective efforts, greatly <br />appreciated; happy to see the site improvements happening along Interurban Blvd; very attractive <br />aesthetically; and it's a good thing environmentally. Great job staff and applicant. <br />The BAR was in consensus that the project is a great asset to Interurban Blvd / to the City and they <br />welcome the development. <br />MOTION: <br />Commissioner Watters moved to approve Case Number L20-0011 Design Review request based <br />on staff's findings, conclusions, recommendations, and one condition with a second condition as <br />follows: "The SE strip of the site NE of the split rail fence needs to have appropriate landscaping <br />submitted and be approved by the City." Commissioner Mann seconded the motion. Motion <br />passed. <br />DIRECTOR'S REPORT: <br />• Staff provided an update on future agenda items <br />• Staff provided an update of department processes and development review. <br />• Staff informed the BAR of a grant awarded to the City for a housing action plan and <br />explained how the funds will be utilized.
