Client Contact Prior to Court Hearings: Contact all clients 1-2 business days prior to their <br />court hearing to confirm access to and knowledge of how to utilize the necessary <br />technology to appear before the court. <br />13. Additional Coverage for Review Calendars: Provide a minimum of two attorneys at each <br />review calendar to expedite efficient hearings. <br />Should provision of these additional services be modified in any way, compensation will be <br />adjusted accordingly. <br />The OPD grant is awarded on a biennial basis and funds have already been awarded for 2021. <br />In 2021 we will be applying for funds for 2022-2023. The contract allows for a mid -contract <br />review of caseloads and compensation including consideration of any funds awarded by OPD <br />for 2022, to determine if adjustments to compensation and services will need to be made for <br />2022. Any proposed increase in general fund expenditures will be brought before the Council <br />as a contract amendment. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />The Committee is being asked to move this item forward to the consent agenda of the <br />November 16, 2020 City Council Meeting for approval and authorization for execution by the <br />Mayor. <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />Draft Contract for Public Defense Services for 2021-2022 <br />26 <br />
