c. Southcenter District Art, Baker Blvd Sidewalk Art Installation — Tracy Gallaway shared that this <br />project is moving forward. Sidewalk art developed by artist Beth Gahan will be installed along <br />Baker Blvd on September 29th & 30th. Tracy Gallaway is hiring a videographer to document the <br />project and develop some informational materials to share the project on the City website and <br />social media channels. <br />d. Utility Box Art Program — Beth Gahan has created a design to use on the City owned utility boxes <br />at Baker Blvd and Andover Park E. Beth and Tracy have been working on developing a City <br />policy for this program. There are plans to roll out the Utility Box Art Program in <br />October/November starting with the pilot project at Baker Blvd and Andover Park East. <br />e. Park Art Projects — Staff are looking at the possibility of doing mural projects (on plywood) at <br />Bicentennial Park (cabin & restroom building), Tukwila Park (restroom & fences); Mural Project <br />(on concrete) at Crystal Springs; Cascade View Pagoda has been victim to recent vandalism and <br />staff are interested in seeing if there are any ways to use art to curb vandalism at that location. <br />5. New Business: <br />a. Tukwila Library Advisory Board (TLAB) "Free Little Libraries" — Cynthia Chesak, who serves on <br />both the Arts Commission and TLAB presented an opportunity to the Arts Commission to <br />partner on this new program. TLAB will purchase 5 boxes and the Arts Commission could <br />commission artists to paint or decorate the free little libraries. TLAB is working with City <br />administration to determine if there would be any liability concerns. If this project moves <br />forward it would likely be in spring 2021. <br />6. Commission/Staff Report Outs: <br />o Tracy Gallaway, Staff Liaison: <br />■ ArtsCorps — Free Virtual After School Arts Program for Youth — 8 Tukwila kids registered; <br />Free Virtual Teen After School Art Program beginning October 20 — 5 class series, weekly <br />from 3-4pm — Poetry/Spoken Word, Hip Hop Dance <br />■ Contract with Joel Lee for Public Art Inventory & Assessment ($2,500) — contracted <br />through March 31, 2021 <br />■ Art Walls at TCC — For 2021 we could showcase the City public art collection on one or both <br />walls. Another idea would be to work with outside organizations to curate our display <br />space. <br />■ Justice Center Plaza — Tracy is working with artist Elizabeth Gahan for an art proposal at the <br />Justice Center Plaza site. The proposal includes using 3 large lanterns attached to the <br />current light poles. There are a couple of lighting options. We are currently getting pricing <br />for the armature to attach the lanterns to the poles. <br />■ % for Art 2021/2022 — <br />• Artist in Residence Program —Tracy is looking at the opportunity to begin another <br />Artist Residency program in 2020. This could be an opportunity to launch a <br />residency that includes a Mentor/Mentee project. She is looking for any feedback <br />the Arts Commission has regarding this idea, or other ideas for AiR projects. <br />
