COPCAB Minutes <br />February 11, 2021 <br />6:30pm — 8:00pm <br />Virtual Meeting Via Microsoft Teams <br />253-292-9750 <br />Conference ID: 526157821# <br />Members present: Jan Boler ack, Roger Arnold, John Lindsey, Tosh Sharp, Katrina Dohn <br />Staff present: Interim Chief Eric Drever, Deputy Chief Eric Lund <br />Guest: <br />Jan Boler ack called the meeting to order. <br />The minutes were approved as presented. <br />Chief's update: <br />o Staffing: 77 commissioned positions, 61 available for full duty <br />-7 frozen <br />-2 light duty <br />-1 administrative leave <br />-2 awaiting background check <br />-2 in FTO Phase 2 <br />-1 pending <br />-1 vacancy <br />-Officer Hunter is off of light duty from a medical condition. <br />-Job offers have been made to two entries. One passed background and is waiting for academy. <br />-Emergency manager hired and starts on 2/16/21. <br />-Job offers have been made to PSO and two records specialists. <br />-Change of title from Crime Prevention Line to Community Policing. <br />-Training officer is retiring and the position has been posted. <br />o Department Update <br />-House Bills coming up are concerning and could have serious implications. Tukwila is partnering <br />with WASPC and speaking with the state. <br />-Interim Chief Drever will put together an information sheet for legislative action and send it to the <br />COPCAB members. <br />-Sound Mental Health will be partnering with Tukwila. A signed contract is in process. Valley Co - <br />responder program will be for six months, and then there will be a search for other funding. <br />-Community Outreach/Town Hall: Waiting on the hiring of the new chief to move forward on this. <br />The goal is to do a couple, with one being tailored towards Tukwila youth. The money is in the <br />budget for this. <br />-Deputy Chief Lund reported on the use of force review board which has 3 of 4 community <br />representatives and two defensive tactics specialists. They review all 2020 use of force incidents. <br />-Make-A-Wish — a 15 year-old will be coming on Sunday.
