City of Tukwila <br />Allan Ekberg, Mayor <br />Department of Community Development - Jack Pace, Director <br />CITY OF TUKWILA <br />BOARD OF ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW (BAR) <br />PUBLIC HEARING <br />MINUTES <br />Date: March 25, 2021 <br />Time: 6:30 PM <br />Location: Virtual meeting via Microsoft Teams <br />Protocol: Nancy Eklund explained the protocol for the virtual meeting. <br />Chair Strander called the public hearing to order. <br />The BAR Secretary took rollcall. <br />Present: Chair Louise Strander; Vice Chair Karen Simmons; Commissioners Dennis Martinez, Sharon <br />Mann, and Andrea Reay <br />Excused <br />Absent: Commissioner Dixie Stark <br />Staff: Department of Community Development (DCD) Director Jack Pace, Acting Planning <br />Supervisor Nancy Eklund, Senior Planner Max Baker and Planning Commission Secretary <br />Wynetta Bivens <br />Adopt <br />Minutes: <br />Commissioner Martinez moved to adopt the March 18, 2021 minutes as submitted. <br />Commissioner Reay seconded the motion. Motion passed. <br />Chair Strander opened the public hearing for: <br />CASE NUMBER: L20-0059 <br />PURPOSE: Design review hearing to construct a commercial storage building with associated roads, <br />utilities, and half -street frontage improvements along S 143rd Street and S 143rd Place. <br />LOCATION: 14300 Interurban Ave S <br />Staff asked the Commissioners the appearance of fairness questions, there were no disclosures. <br />Max Baker, Senior Planner, DCD, gave the presentation for staff. He provided an overview of the review process, <br />gave background information for the site and project, and design review criteria and landscaping requirements. The <br />applicant proposed shifting some of the landscaping through the site to accommodate the pedestrian access along <br />the north and south areas while still meeting the intent of type 1 landscaping within the remaining 10 ft. wide <br />landscaping area that will be met otherwise.
