City of <br />.: City Council Community Services & Safety Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br />Se pte m be r 20, 2021 - 5.•30 p. m. - Electronic Meeting due to COVID-19 Emergency <br />Councilmembers Present: Cynthia Delostrinos Johnson, Chair; De'Sean Quinn, Zak Idan <br />Staff Present: David Cline, Jay Wittwer, Eric Drever, Eric Lund, Kari Sand, Niesha Fort - <br />Brooks, Norm Golden, Tracy Gallaway, Laurel Humphrey <br />Guest: Christopher West, Chief Executive Officer, Cascade Behavioral Health <br />Hospital <br />Chair Delostrinos Johnson called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. <br />I. BUSINESSAGENDA <br />A. Law Enforcement Training & Community Safety Act (LETCSA) Update <br />Staff provided an overview of the implementation of LETCSA, including areas of concern for <br />law enforcement that may result in future amendments. <br />Committee Recommendation. <br />Discussion only. <br />B. Community Connectors Program Update <br />Staff presented an update on the Community Connectors Advisory Committee's efforts to <br />create a new civic academy program to launch next year. <br />Committee Recommendation. <br />Discussion only. <br />C. Cascade Behavioral Health Hospital Safety <br />Chief Drever and Mr. West addressed safety concerns raised by employees at Cascade <br />Behavioral Health Hospital. Committee members expressed a need to fully understand the <br />situation in order to support the employees. <br />Committee Recommendation. <br />Return to Committee. <br />D. City Soccer Fields <br />Staff discussed possibilities for synthetic turf fields, which was identified as a goal in the PROS <br />plan for Foster Memorial Park and Tukwila Community Center but currently unbudgeted. Staff <br />has researched the potential of "temporary field solutions" and will seek funding <br />opportunities. <br />Committee Recommendation. <br />Discussion only. <br />
